Unstable structures are a common theme in my work. I think it comes from my underlying thoughts about the subjectivity of human experience. I don’t believe in a notion of definitive truth. History is being re-written all the time. We are in it. When rain falls on my glasses, my world is changed.

This work also has a notion of soft-minimalism in it, which I think of as a more tactile, dusty, imperfect version of the grand modernist gesture. When I once looked after a Donald Judd sculpture in the gallery, everyone who touched its seductive copper surface while I wasn’t looking left an oxidised fingerprint.
