This work came into being over a long period of time. Colour is everywhere but it also feels very simple. I had to tweak the colours to find the right balance, particularly because there are so many colours in use.I enjoy the play of the shadow exaggerating a 3D feeling.
The shape is a simple looped/knotted one, made only out of paint and not trying to describe something else. However it leaves an impression of something ‘real’, autonomous and tangible which is trying to leave the space. I love how painting can breathe life into something static through the instigation of time and patience whilst leaving an impression of something instant.
